The allure of urban gang lifestyle has been the subject of many documentaries, studies, and academic theory for decades. Moreover, the "group dynamic", criminal enterprise, and their effect on the individual is a conversation that is replete with complex perspectives. When espoused by certain groups, however, these perspectives often sound more like excuses for gang lifestyle than indictments against the life itself and individuals who participate in it.
Are there, however, more trivial and egotistical reasons for becoming a gangster? Are "Gold, Glory, and Girls" enough to subvert the positions of the educated, "complex" urban theorist who often "overexplains" the most destructive members of the African-American community?

"Strip clubs in Detroit" is, admittedly, an important issue. In fact, it is an issue far more critical than has been acknowledged (and for reasons far different and greater in number than we have heretofore imagined). With all issues of import, however, there is often a temptation to "jump in and solve the problem"--especially when names, egoes, and "desperation" (real or imagined) are involved. This is an ill-advised approach, though (to say the least). To the contrary, the first thing we need to do in order to effect what is best for larger society is quite simple: find all the dummies and separate them from the rest of us.

Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Boulevard, Bourbon Street, Fifth Avenue, Canal Street, Mulholland Drive, etc., and (more aptly) "The Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Okay, maybe we're not that famous (or depressed). And maybe we should be. Who knows? Furthermore, people in Detroit go out to eat and drink every night--in a good or bad economy (and sometimes more when things are bad). So here's our question: "How do you open a restaurant on Woodward Avenue and not make it?" .
To be sure, we issue our "gentle indictment" via utter and feigned confusion (irony at its best). That is to say, the question is rhetorical; for the folks at Atlas Global Bistro have a lot to say on the issue. And we should listen, too.
